Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the safe and effective operation of your wireless relay switch. Always ensure power is disconnected before making any wiring connections.
1. Wiring the Receiver:
The receiver features large screw terminals for easy and secure wiring. It supports various cable types including Single-Strand Hard Wire (BV), Stranded Hard Wire (RV), and Stranded Flexible Wire (BVR).
Figure 2: Illustration of compatible cable types and the accessible screw terminals for wiring.
The receiver has input terminals for DC 5V-30V power supply (VIN and GND). The output consists of four independent relays, each with three terminals: Normally Open (NO), Common (COM), and Normally Closed (NC). These are potential-free (dry contact) outputs.

2. Pairing Transmitters (Learning Signal):
The receiver and transmitters need to be paired to establish communication. The pairing process varies slightly depending on the desired operating mode (Momentary, Toggle, or Latched).
Figure 4: Step-by-step instructions for pairing the remote control with the receiver for Momentary, Toggle, and Latched operating modes.
-
Momentary Mode (Press and Hold):
- Press the learning button on the receiver 1 time.
- Wait approximately 3 seconds.
- Press button "A" on the remote control.
- Press button "B" on the remote control. Pairing successful.
-
Toggle Mode (Press On, Press Off):
- Press the learning button on the receiver 2 times.
- Wait approximately 3 seconds.
- Press button "A" on the remote control.
- Press button "B" on the remote control. Pairing successful.
-
Latched Mode (Press "A" for ON, Press "B" for OFF):
- Press the learning button on the receiver 3 times.
- Wait approximately 3 seconds.
- Press button "A" on the remote control.
- Press button "B" on the remote control. Pairing successful.
Note: Latched mode typically requires a remote control with at least two buttons for each relay pair (one for ON, one for OFF). For a 4-channel receiver, this means buttons A/B control relay 1, and C/D control relay 2, and so on.
After successful pairing, test the remote control to ensure the desired operation mode is active.
Operating Modes
The SWITNEX wireless relay switch supports three distinct operating modes, offering flexibility for various applications.
Figure 5: Visual representation of the three operating modes: Momentary, Toggle, and Latched.
-
Momentary Mode:
In this mode, the relay remains activated only as long as the remote control button is pressed. Releasing the button deactivates the relay. This is ideal for applications like momentary door openers or temporary light activation.
-
Toggle Mode:
Pressing the remote control button once activates the relay, and it remains active until the same button is pressed again to deactivate it. This mode is suitable for on/off control of lights, fans, or other devices.
-
Latched Mode:
In Latched mode, one button on the remote activates a relay, and another button deactivates it. For example, pressing button "A" turns Relay 1 ON, and pressing button "B" turns Relay 1 OFF (while simultaneously turning Relay 2 ON if configured for a pair). This mode is useful for applications requiring distinct ON and OFF commands, such as motor direction control.
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your SWITNEX wireless relay switch, follow these general maintenance guidelines:
- Keep Dry: Protect the receiver and transmitters from moisture and humidity. Water can damage internal electronic components.
- Clean Gently: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the devices. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Battery Replacement: If the remote control's range decreases or it becomes unresponsive, replace the 12V batteries in the transmitters.
- Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Do not expose the devices to excessively high or low temperatures, as this can affect performance and lifespan.
- Secure Connections: Periodically check wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your SWITNEX wireless relay switch, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
-
Device Not Responding to Remote:
- Check Batteries: Ensure the remote control batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
- Re-pair Remote: The pairing might have been lost. Follow the "Pairing Transmitters" steps in the Setup section to re-pair the remote.
- Obstacles/Range: Ensure there are no significant metal objects or thick walls between the remote and the receiver that could block the RF signal. While designed for good range, extreme interference can occur.
- Power to Receiver: Verify that the receiver is properly powered (DC 5V-30V) and its indicator light is on.
-
Relay Not Activating/Deactivating Correctly:
- Wiring Check: Double-check all wiring connections to the relay terminals (NO, COM, NC) and ensure they match your intended circuit diagram.
- Operating Mode: Confirm that the receiver is set to the correct operating mode (Momentary, Toggle, or Latched) for your application. If unsure, reset the receiver and re-pair in the desired mode.
- Load Compatibility: Ensure the connected load (e.g., motor, lamp) is within the 10A current rating of the relay. Overloading can prevent proper operation or damage the relay.
-
Remote Control Buttons Not Lighting Up:
- This typically indicates a dead battery in the remote. Replace the 12V battery.
Resetting the Receiver: -
If you experience persistent issues or wish to clear all paired remotes, you can reset the receiver to its factory default state.
After resetting, all previously paired remotes will be cleared, and you will need to re-To reset the receiver, press the learning button 8 times consecutively.pair them according to the "Pairing Transmitters" instructions.
